Over the past few years, I have been involved in a number of projects in the SME sector in various positions with a focus on legacy modernization and digitalization/IoT/Industry 4.0, which I present below.
Legacy modernization projects
SMEs are often faced with the challenge of having to modernize existing products for various reasons (e.g. discontinuations, cost optimization). This ranges from a hardware update (e.g. new microcontroller family) and a subsequent firmware update to a completely new development of the hardware and, if necessary, porting or new development of the firmware.
Medium-sized companies have to deal with specific problems that I can help them solve. Among other things in the areas of project management, modernization of the project infrastructure, but also in hands-on activities such as programming, testing, etc.
In the past, I have carried out projects in various domains, for example in medical technology or in automation technology for specific industries.
Digitalization / IoT / Industry 4.0 projects
Many companies see the need to invest in the digitalization/IoT of their products. This is necessary, for example, to provide customers with more functions (e.g. digital services) or to optimize the product through digitalization (e.g. cost optimization, improvement of functions).
In the past, I was able to gain experience in various areas (e.g. mining, reinforcing steel, medical technology). This ranged from digitization projects of individual products to larger projects of entire product families.
